Hi
I'm setting up some Dell N2048 Switches on Cacti v. 1.2.11 and I'm having trouble with the devices remaing 'Down' for the most part (they occasionally come up in state recovering or even up only to go back down again after a while). I've tried the following (in no particular order):
1. Double checked connectivity. A ping to these swiches is always constantly in the 3ms range. Other switch models in the same location remain up constantly (no issues).
2. I anyway changed the SNMP Timeout to 2000 with no difference noted.
3. Changing 'Downed Device Detection' to Ping "solves" the issue (but I'd much rather rely on SNMP).
4. Confirmed that SNMPWalk and SNMPGet return a value for SNMP Uptime:
[root@mlt-cacti01-vm php.d]# snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -a SHA -A foo_pass -u foo -x AES -X foo_pass 10.0.50.45 .1.3.6.1.2.1.1.1.0
SNMPv2-MIB::sysDescr.0 = STRING: Dell Networking N2048P, 6.3.3.9, Linux 3.6.5-f0fa1e90
[root@mlt-cacti01-vm php.d]# snmpwalk -v3 -l authPriv -a SHA -A foo_pass -u foo -x AES -X foo_pass 10.0.50.45 .1.3.6.1.2.1.1.1.0
SNMPv2-MIB::sysDescr.0 = STRING: Dell Networking N2048P, 6.3.3.9, Linux 3.6.5-f0fa1e90
5. Tried switching off php-snmp in /etc/php.d/20-snmp.ini and restarted httpd...no difference noted.
6. Replaced snmp.php and api_device.php with the latest ones from v. 1.2.16...no difference noted.
I'm now at a loss so any help would be greatly appreciated. Incidentally, if anyone knows of any recent Dell Switch Templates, let me know
Thanks,
Joe

Re: Device 'Down' for unknown reason
Ok since this is intermittent what I would do is the following
If you are using spine when the device is in a down state run the following command
./spine -f <device id> -l <device id> -R -v 5
let's check and see what the poller is observing when it polls this device
if you need help send me an email ill help you out

Re: Device 'Down' for unknown reason
Hi,
Thanks for that. The command unfortunately didn't reveal much though:
[root@mlt-cacti01-vm bin]# ./spine -f 43 -l 43 -R -v 5
SPINE 1.2.16 Copyright 2004-2020 by The Cacti Group
