Specifics for creating CIR on a graph

Post by roger69 »

I've found several threads talking about graphing CIR, but none of them have any specfics on HOW to actually do it. I know I need to use an HRULE similar to how a 95-percentile graph is set up, but I don't know how to actually set up the HRULE so it works, and displays the CIR for the interface.

Any help?

Someone out there has to know how to do this, I can't be the only one who has read the documentation and found zero help on this topic.

FYI, the 95 percent is an internal cacti function.

Okay

Okay, the 95 percentile is an internal cacti function. But it graphs it using an HRULE, and other posts here (search for CIR) have said that using an HRULE in a graph is a good way to graph CIR.

Let me explain this way: I need to specify a max value for data traffic on a bits in/out interface, and have it graphed with a solid red line. Is that possible???

Saw your Cacti mailing list note. Using HRULES are quite simple. You simply create an HRULE in the graph section and set it to the appropriate value. If you want the HRULES to be managed automatically, then that would be more difficult. I use them for multi-processor graphs, say for a Server with 8 CPU's I make a HRULE of 800 for (800%) which is the max value. Then I set the MAX Y value to about 820 so that you can see the rule.
