cactid doesn't work under win32 with mysql 4.1

Post by mrh »

Hi all,
I'm having problems when switching from cmd.php to cactid 0.8.6d, when I run manually cactid.exe it says: CACTID: MYSQL: Connection failed after 10 attempts : Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client.

I've read in other posts and I've changed the oldpasswords under mysql 4.1 but the problem is still the same.

Thanks a lot!

Go back to 0.8.6c or build the binary yourself using the process outlined in the source code. The 0.8.6d was build using the old MySQL Client API, sorry.

I'm also still receiving this message after reverting to 8.6c. Is there anything else I can try?

CACTID: Using cactid config file [cactid.conf]
CACTID: MYSQL: Connection failed after 10 attempts : Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client

the password is store in the database with a new long hash, if you want to be compatible you have to set the password in the mysql 4.1 database with the old_password, i don't remenber the exactly syntax but you can find it in the mysql documentation.

Does the UI work correctly?

If UI means User Interface there is no problem because cacti works with the old authentication of mysql, when you make that you just say to mysql to use the old authentication who is less stronger than the real authentication of mysql 4.1.
This is the link for the syntax:

http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/old-client.html

If it's not your question, could you explain more, explecialy for "UI" :o
