Generic custom Data Template - Linux HugePages

Post by xandew »

Hello,

This is still for Cacti 0.8.8h (will update to 1.25 in about a month... :-) ).

I have a working graph template which is fed by a script/command data input method: script_name <hostname>. (The script makes a ssh request to <hostname> and collects memory HugePages usage.

But so far I could only have it working if I create host-specifics Data and Graph Templates. Data templates are looking like the attached screenshot...

Is there a way I could create the same graph template so it could be "generic", like the SNMP ones, and would not have to hard-code the server name to the Data Template?
Creating these graphs for a few servers is fine, but when it comes to build it for 50 - 80 servers it becomes unmanageable...

Thanks a lot for any hint,

Alex

You have to use the "Special Type Code" of hostname in the Data Input Method for the script.

Hello,

Thanks a lot for helping, it's working...! (As I'm sure you know it would... :-) )

Just an extra piece of information for others facing the same "issue":
Besides doing what it was mentioned by The Witness, you also need to leave the "Custom Data" field blank and check "Use Per-Data Source Value" on your custom Data Template.

All the best,

Alex
