I am trying to graph data from a system which reports a large number of variables in one go. So I set up a single input method to read all thoose values.
I then set up a single Data Template to specify the type of values, their range etc.
When I create a new Graph Template, I can the pick and choose values to graph against each other at will.
However I notice that that means that for each Graph it will create a new Data Source which contains all the variables. So, if I get 6 Graphs referring the same input method, I get 6 RRD files with the same data.
Similarly, it seems the poller processes the input file 6 times.
Is there a way to have the Graphs all refer to a single instance of the RRA, ie effective decoupling the data collection from the Graphs using the data in the RRDs?
one script, many values, different Graphs

This is an issue with the current version of Cacti and the author has it on his (rather full) plate to remedy this in the next major (0.9) release of the product. For now, to accomodate this is a hack that I don't even want to describe how to perform. You have my humblest applogies.
