Mactrack don't find any ip address or mac

Post by gabrifolle86 »

Hello,
I've mactrack plugin 2.9 installed on my cacti 0.8.8h

I have add the my router TPLINK Arcer c7 with openwrt to the device, all it's ok and up (snmp and ping) but mactrack don't find any ip address or mac during the scan.

What can I do to have my lan devices as results of the scanning?

Thanks all of you that help me :)

Well, there is a lot to it. You have to provide a valid scanning function for your hardware. I wrote this thing 16 years ago. It still works, but not too many people troll these forums who are users.

If it's not a layer3 device, you need to add it's router to Cacti too.

Thanks for the reply and congratulations for the plugin, it really has enormous potential!

I don't have layer 3 switches. I would like to scan the devices present in my network and import them into the db once "authorized" in order to make the operation cyclical and thus verify the presence of "new devices".
I added among the devices to be scanned only my router TPLINK arcer c7 (with openwrt) and snmp enabled.

is there anything else i can do?

Thanks again!

Well, to do the mapping, you need to find a way to get a routers ARP table into MacTrack. There is an Arpwatch integration there if you don't have snmp access into a layer 3 device, but I've never used it.

Sorry, the openwrt firewall is layer 3, so i have a device L3.
So I have added the router with openwrt (with L3 firewall on board)

Or if you can kindly help me with the arpwatch configuration..

What should I do?
Thanks

I have also checked that from cacti to my router, I can have all the arptable by snmp:

Add the router to Cacti, and then to MacTrack, set it's IP Scanning function to the Generic one.

Thanks for the help,
in the device window there's no generic one but only this:

There are three scanning functions per device type. You need to add the device types for your equipment. Device types are Router, Router/Switch, Switch/Hub.

Hi everybody!
Anyone still use this amazing plugin? I hope so, because it's a powerful tool to control all the network, it's possible to receive notification when new device connect to the network and allow or not it!!
But I have a problem
I have cacti 1.2.23, php 8.1.2 on ubuntu server 22

I have finally found some ipaddress of my network (whit get_standard_arp_table), but no mac-address!
I have an TPLINK Archer C7 with last Openwrt (22.03) running as layer 3, somebody know what I have to chose as "MAC Address Scanning Function" under Device Type menu?
Apparentely no one works! (the generic, the not applicable and so on)
I really need help to keep monitored my network!
Thanks for any support!
