Cacti 1.2.2 graphs not displaying correct bandwidth

Post by thenetworkpro85 »

I have Cacti 1.2.2 running on Debian 10. I have found in the last few months that our graphs are not showing the correct bandwidth. I'm not sure what changed but these used to match up. The Cacti graphs are In/Out Bits with Total Bandwidth. I tried adding In/Out Bits with 64 bit counters and got same results.

This graph shows receive bandwidth at almost 400Mbps.

The Cacti graph shows max bandwidth during the same time period is 113 Mbps.

Help! I'm at a loss on how to fix it. Thanks!

Are you using the 64 Bit Counter version of the graphs?

Not sure if this helps. I had similar issue. But, the 64-counter graphs made no difference.
BUT this did: set cron for 5 min, and the poller for 30 sec - this gave me full traffic flow using
either In/Out Bits, or In/Out Bits - 64-bit counters.

enjoy,

Made the recommended changes and no such luck. Both graphs are with 64 bit counters. I spun up a new Cacti for a comparison on this one device and the new one is graphing correctly. I'm doing a side by side comparison to see what's different. Honestly, I might start migrating our hundreds of devices to the new server at this point.

Existing Cacti - Graphs still wrong.

Spun up new Cacti and graphs are correct.

Hello There,

Nice graph. What version of Cacti did you upgrade to? I am currently running cacti-1.2.14, and it seems to work
with the poller settings I suggested above. But, cacti is strange - and there seems to be no clear cut solutions for issues
like ours (i.e. show correct bandwitch, etc)

Problem could be in snmp version. snmp v1 uses 32bit counters only:
