Polling Time value

Post by ibuatia »

How do I change the predefined polling time value to 600?
I am monitoring devices over satellite links and my system's polling time is quite high, it goes up to 520 and I'm getting a lot of this warning.

WARNING: There are 1 processes detected as overrunning a polling cycle for poller id 1, please investigate.

How can I change the value of this predefined polling value, say to 600, to avoid receiving this warning. Over 600 then I will get that warning.

Thank you

you cannot change that polling time passed 500 as that represents 5 minutes

let's look at your setup though which is most definitely the cause

What poller are you using spine or cmd.php?
I see one device in particular that has a huge polling time is that a wan device or lan ?

If youd like you can reach out to me via email I would be happy to help you

Hi Seanmancini

I would like to take this opportunity to thank for taking the time to respond to my post and your willingness to help.
Thank so much. This is my system's setup.

Cacti Version 1.2.10
Cacti OS unix
RSA Fingerprint
NET-SNMP Version NET-SNMP version: 5.8
RRDtool Version Configured 1.7.2+
RRDtool Version Found 1.7.2
Devices 21
Graphs 87
Data Sources Script Server: 29
Script/Command: 35
SNMP Get: 64
Total: 128
Interval 300
Type cmd.php
Items Action[0]: 42
Action[1]: 35
Action[2]: 29
Total: 106
Concurrent Processes 1
Max Threads 1
PHP Servers 1
Script Timeout 25
Max OID 10

The devices on my last attachment contained devices within my LAN with less than 1 ms ping time. The rest with 1000+ ms ping time are part of the WAN, remote sites over the satellite links. Strangely just yesterday, Kacific Satellite Networks were doing improvement maintenance on their system which has improved my polling time dramatically, and my device status are all up. The highest polling time I'm getting is 91.43, and I'm not getting those warnings anymore. What is your email address so I could contact you on a few more issues. Do you suggest that I install spine? Thank you.
