Cacti probing on Telnet UDP 23

Post by faser »

Hi All,

just saw on my firewall that Cacti is during it's 5 minute poller run sending a request on UDP 23.
What is causing that? For "down detection" I have configured "Ping or SNMP Uptime" and ping method "ICMP Ping"
As data queries I only have SNMP queries.

Cheers

by chance do you have a device set to UDP ping ?
maybe trace the dest IP and check the IP in cacti and track down the device in the device tab

As I wrote in my post that device is configured as "Ping or SNMP Uptime" with ping method "ICMP Ping"

are you using spine ?
check that the set uid is set properly if you are
if spine doesnt have the proper permissions it will fall back to udp ping even when the device is configured for icmp

you can also turn on device debug and see what cacti is doing for that device also check the log for something like

falling back to UDP ping due to setuid issues

Thanks, that was the reason

Code: Select all

SPINE: Poller[1] PID[13241] Device[7] DEBUG Falling back to UDP Ping Due to SetUID Issues
