1.2.11 - Cacti Upgrade hangs at 42%

Post by Jeeves »

On two different CentOS 7 systems the installer hangs at 42%.
It keeps refreshing, but no progress is made.

The seems to be caused by importing template packages (which I can find no other way to import);

Code: Select all

[2020-04-06 20:58:16] [ always ] Found 6 templates to install
[2020-04-06 20:58:16] [ always ] About to import Package #1 'Cacti_Stats.xml.gz'.
[2020-04-06 20:58:18] [ always ] Import of Package #1 'Cacti_Stats.xml.gz' under Profile '1' succeeded
[2020-04-06 20:58:18] [ always ] About to import Package #2 'Cisco_Router.xml.gz'.
Eventually, I reboot the server. The Install runs through converting the tables again;

Code: Select all

[2020-04-06 20:58:16] [ always ] Switched from to /tmp/cduF1KTV7
[2020-04-06 20:58:16] [ always ] NOTE: Using temporary file for db cache: /tmp/cduF1KTV7
[2020-04-06 20:58:16] [ always ] Upgrading from v1.2.10 (DB 1.2.11 (DB: 1.2.10)) to v1.2.11

[2020-04-06 21:23:21] [ always ] Setting PHP Option memory_limit = -1
[2020-04-06 21:23:22] [ always ] Starting INSTALL Process for v1.2.11
[2020-04-06 21:23:22] [ always ] Found 196 tables to convert
[2020-04-06 21:23:22] [ always ] Converting Table #1 'aggregate_graphs'

[2020-04-06 21:23:22] [ always ] Converting Table #4 'aggregate_graph_templates'
This time it succeeds as the import is not performed at the end of the process.
It should also be noted that the timestamps are in local time, and the Installation started/completed times are seemingly in UTC:

Code: Select all

[2020-04-06 21:23:51] [ always ] Converting Table #194 'weathermap_groups'

[2020-04-06 21:23:52] [ always ] Converting Table #196 'weathermap_settings'
[2020-04-06 21:23:52] [ always ] Finished INSTALL Process for v1.2.11
[2020-04-06 21:23:52] [ always ] Installation was started at 2020-04-07 03:23:21, completed at 2020-04-07 03:23:52

i dropped and deleted my 1.2.11 database.
I imported my backup of my 1.2.9 database from minutes before my upgrade attempt.
stopped my web server
renamed cacti folder to cacti 1211
renamed cacti.old folder to cacti
restarted my web server.
im back in to where i was before my attempt. if anyone finds out why the hang up happens at 42%, ill attempt a new backup and upgrade.

Thanks, this issue seems to be something to do with the package event not properly notifying that it's complete, or not being handle properly. I personally haven't experienced it on my systems so it suggests that there may be something environmental, ie in the database or speed or software based that is creating the issue, but trying to reproduce it is the fun part!

Some of this looks cookie domain related.

Hello,
Beside the cookie issue that only let you login, what is the next step to finish the install after it was stuck to 42% ?

I have had the same issue on a machine running CentOS 7. After seeing the progress bar not move, I rebooted the machine. Unfortunately I am unable to login and keep getting a loop back to the login page.
I then installed 1.2.11 on a new CentOS machine and can't log in with the default credentials of admin/admin. There definitely appears to be issues with 1.2.11 that need to be addressed.

In another thread someone referred me to :-
https://github.com/Cacti/cacti/issues/3436

I there, there is likely to be an answer for me to the login issue (and hopefully the 42% issue). From there :-

"Okay, this is interesting. Are any of you guys copying the config.php.dist to config.php? If so, comment out the $cacti_cookie_domain line. This was supposed to be commented out, but for some reason (likely late night), it was not commented out."

So I commented "$cacti_cookie_domain" line out in config.php, and then I could login for my new install. I have not seen the 42% issue, so can't comment on that.

So for me that seems to be the fix at least for a new install.

Good luck.

That worked for me initially. However when I closed my browser and reopened it, I couldn't log in anymore. I haven't been able to log in since.
