Post by EricTheGreat »

Hi everyone,

Here are some French language translation errors that could be corrected in next release of cacti. Check picture comments to get the right translation.

That's fantastic. What you can do it edit the fr-FR.po file in the locales/po directory to correct the mistakes. Then once that file is fixed, run the script build_mo.sh. Then, lastly, create a pull request in GitHub and attach the modified po file. We need the help

Thanks Osiris. This is what I what looking for. I started to correct some errors here and there to make the sentences more understandable in French.

It works fine but I encountered some issues. First everytime I see a line with "#, fuzzy" then the translation does not apply and that is why there is a mix of French and English. The workaround I found for that is to replace "#, fuzzy" (or "#, fuzzy, php-format") by "#, php-format". Doing that the French translation is displayed on screen otherwise the English text is used. So all the lines with "#, fuzzy" are not translated.
Second issue I met is the text that is not defined and referenced to be translated. Here is one example (line 121 of "fr-FR.po"):

Code: Select all

#: aggregate_graphs.php:84 graphs.php:197
#, fuzzy, php-format
msgid "Place on a Tree (%s)"
msgstr "Placer sur un arbre (%s)"
The translation in French is fine but the first line should be corrected since the text is used by host.php file in line 195 and also "#, fuzzy, php-format" should be replaced on the second line. So here is the correction:

Code: Select all

#: aggregate_graphs.php:84 graphs.php:197 host.php:195
#, php-format
msgid "Place on a Tree (%s)"
msgstr "Placer sur un arbre (%s)"
But... it does not work; that is I still got the English text. I have no error during compilation.

Any Idea how to solve that problem?

Once you have validated a string, then just remove the fuzzy line entirely. Fuzzy is a note the the translator (you) that the string has not been validated. Thanks for your help!!!

With the place on tree issue, simply update your host.php from the 1.2.x branch. Then it will work.

Here are some troubles found during my translation activity:

Issue 1:
I found texts that cannot be translated unless modifying the code. The strings are "Check all" and "Uncheck all" and are located in "Graphs" tab when we choose the Template selection.

They might be in:
cacti/include/js/jquery.multiselect.js:45: 'text': 'Uncheck all',
cacti/include/js/jquery.multiselect.js:46: 'title': 'Uncheck all',
"Check all" and "Uncheck all" cannot be edited in the fr-FR.po
"Check all" and "Uncheck all" cannot be edited in the fr-FR.po

Issue 2:
In Manage / Trees, in edit mode of a tree when we add a node right-clicking on a root node and then we select "Create" the name is still in English ("New node"). But it is applyed when we create the root node using the button above so the following translation is applyed.

Code: Select all

#: tree.php:914 tree.php:1219
msgid "New Node"
msgstr "Nouvelle branche"
"New node" text cannot be translated when created with a right click.
"New node" text cannot be translated when created with a right click.

Issue 3:

The text is in Manage / Site when we add a new site then edit the fields. If I edit this text without an apostrophe then I get the correct text (but the text is grammatically incorrect):

Code: Select all

#: sites.php:57
msgid "Enter the Site Address"
msgstr "Entrez l adresse du site"
If I edit this text with the correct syntaxt the text is truncated:

Code: Select all

#: sites.php:57
msgid "Enter the Site Address"
msgstr "Entrez l'adresse du site"
Same problem with this text:

Code: Select all

#: sites.php:66
msgid "Additional Site Address information"
msgstr "Informations complémentaires sur l'adresse du site"
If an apostrophe is used in this text then the displayed text is truncated
If an apostrophe is used in this text then the displayed text is truncated

Issue 4:

Those texts are not displayed translated in Tree action drop menu. Removing msgctxt "dropdown action" is giveing the same result.

Code: Select all

#: rrdcleaner.php:29 tree.php:31
msgctxt "dropdown action"
msgid "Delete"
msgstr "Supprimer"

#: tree.php:32
msgctxt "dropdown action"
msgid "Publish"
msgstr "Publier"

#: tree.php:33
msgctxt "dropdown action"
msgid "Un Publish"
msgstr "Un Publier"
Text not translated in Manage / Tree.

Update the latest sites.php and lib/html_form.php and you will be further along. The multi-select text is going to be more difficult to fix.
