Issue with v1.2.8

Post by kklisa »

Hi guys!

I have a problem when cacti update to 1.2.8 version. Exactly the message is:
ALTER TABLE host_snmp_cache MODIFY COLUMN snmp_index VARCHAR(255) NOT NULL default "" [FAIL].

I try to do this command on mysql and I have the next message:
"ERROR 1071 (42000): Specified key was too long; max key length is 767 bytes"

Can you help me?

Thanks and have a nice day!

You need to ensure that Barracuda is the default innodb file format, large prefix is enabled as well as file per table. Then there is a cli script you can run called convert_tables.php. Run it with the --dynamic and --innodb options. Then continue with the upgrade.

Thanks and have a nice day!

Follow this article to the bottom, restart MySQL, then run the command as instructed.
