Cacti weathermap is not editable or read only mode

Post by mahade047 »

I am trying to create different maps in weathermap.

I copy the simple.conf file into another file(newmap.conf) and then change the title(Dhaka-metro-sw) with necessary centOS commands.

The newly created map(newmap.conf) shows on the cacti editor but its only in read only mode. If I add anything in the map its doesnt get saved.
However the simple.conf titled test which is by default created by cacti is editable.

How do I make the other file (in this case newmap.conf, marked with red arrow in picture) editable ?

thank you

Make the file permissions and ownership of the new file match the old one. Most likely the new one is owned by you, and the old one is owned by apache. Whatever that user is, use chown to change the ownership of the new file.
Weathermap 0.98a is out! & QuickTree 1.0. Superlinks is over there now (and built-in to Cacti 1.x).
Some Other Cacti tweaks, including strip-graphs, icons and snmp/netflow stuff.
(Let me know if you have UK DevOps or Network Ops opportunities, too!)

It worked. thanks. I used chmod 777 to make the owner of newmap.conf to root.

thank you very much

I don't recommend just making files 777 permissions. Now anyone can write over them.

But it's your system.
