I want to backup my db. I use mysqldump which works great. But
when i restore the db, i dont get my history, everything else gets restored
fine. Is there a way to do this so i can get my history too. I is very important for us to keep the history.

You need to back up the contents of the rra directory. This is where the statistical data is stored in rrds.
