I have a new install in Centos 8 and the newest version of Cacti. All went well until the very last setup step in my browser, admin then admin worked on the first start up try, but then I cannot get past the next startup screen to rename the cacti user password.
Apache Error: Your current password is not correct. Please try again.
another error is not enough characters but I have tried Uppercase and Numbers and no luck with that either.
Nothing I try works. I can login with a command prompt to MariaDB
mysql -u cacti -p (my password) so I know the cacti user is working at the DB and able to login.
I looked at cacti.logs and
/etc/httpd/logs/error_log and don't why this is happening.
What should I try next? I'm on the 1 yard line! LoL

Re: Cacti password reset from Apache start up screen
When you first open up cacti before even seeing the installation wizard, you should be prompted to rename the admin password because the default is, as you pointed out, admin and admin. Once changed, this is the new password for the admin user and should be used going forward.

Re: Cacti password reset from Apache start up screen
I'm having the same issue. After the admin admin portion you are prompted to reset your password. The password apparently doesn't take. Green check marks but after you click submit it just keeps asking to make a new password. I've created multiple passwords so far on different browsers and get the same result. Can get past the page because of this. Someone please help with the fix, thank you.
Re: Cacti password reset from Apache start up screen
If you are running develop from GitHub, this was due to missing columns in the cacti.sql file. If you run upgrade_database.php with setting forcever to 1.2.7, it should resolve the issue. Alternatively, check out https://github.com/Cacti/cacti/issues/3064
