User Groups vs. User Domains

New guy here. What is the difference between user groups and user domains? I've tried looking everywhere I can think of to come across this info myself, but no dice. Thanks in advance!

user groups are the groups associated with privileges against graphs, trees and devices. user domains are for connecting with external authentication sources such as Active Directory or LDAP.
