IIS mysql error

After spending about a week working on getting everything loaded and configured I finaly started the application. When I tried opening the web page (http:\\myserver\cacti) and I get the following message.

Warning: mysql_connect(): Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client in c:\inetpub\wwwroot\cacti\lib\adodb\drivers\adodb-mysql.inc.php on line 339

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: cacti_log() in c:\inetpub\wwwroot\cacti\lib\database.php on line 51

Can anybody help me with what the problem might be? \

Do a search on the forums, other people have had this problem. It's related to mysql 4.x and the way it handles passwords.

I had the same error. Be sure to reboot your machine after you've installed and configured everything. I should go away than.

I did look thought the forum entries and found that the problem had been solved before. I followed the procedure to set the password to the "old" password format and everything is working fine now.
