Waiting on 4/4 pollers

Post by BelgianViking »

My problem started with no graphs being generated. So I read a lot of posts on this board and found I had no RRD files being created.
When I ran the 'php.exe poller.php' command it just was 'hanging' and I had to CTRL-C to get out of it. I found the same was happening with the sheduled task, and it was creating ('timeout exceeded' messages in the cacti log).
I stopped the sheduled task. I tested the output for the 'php.exe cmd.php' and 'php.exe poller.php' once again and suddenly got something different. The CMD test seems OK, and the Poller test generated some OKs and some errors ('Illegal attempt to update ...'), and the RRD files where being created. (The output is in attachement)
However the graphs now showed only '-1' values and repeated poller tests where hanging again.
I deleted the RRD files, restarted the server, kept the sheduled task off. I increased the poller processes and threads, and added debugging.
I ran the same 2 test command again. CMD still OK, and Poller outputs 'Waiting for 4/4 pollers' each second or so. Only way out is CTRL-C. Than suddenly got some 'OK' messages between the 'waiting ..' and the RRD files appear again ! (attached the output again) Same problem: graphs only show '-1' for all values.
Could anyone help me in further debugging this ?
Thanx ...

Please insure that you are running Cacti 0.8.6c or above. Your symptom in the attached is from having 2 simultaneous poller processes running concurrently.

There may be other issues as well.

I do use cacti-0.8.6c. Other soft is:
Win2000 Server
IIS
mysql-4.1.10a-win32
php-5.0.3-Win32
net-snmp-5.2.1-1.win32
rrdtool-1.0.48.win32-perl58-distr
cacti-cactid-0.8.6d (but not active)

If I reboot the machine, and have no sheduled task running, than how could I have simultaneous poller processes ? An I would see that in the Task Manager process list, wouldn't I ?

Go into Settings->Paths and verify that the PHP Path is "php-win.exe" instead of "php.exe".

Right, that does the trick !! I must have read that before, but missed the fact that it was the path setting in the Console Settings.
However, I'm still stuck with the all values being -1 and no real graph in the drawing (that DOES show up now).
Thanks already !!!
