Fixed version is being uploaded now and should be available within an hour or two. Validated MySQL installs successfully (even without Internet).

Thank you BSOD2600 for posting the updated Windows installer. I was hoping to use it to collect some ping data. I installed it without any trouble on Windows 10. Unfortunately the Unix ping does not work under Windows. I can troubleshoot enough to see that the ping.pl module needs to be modified to handle the Windows ping command. Unfortunately, I'm not very good with Perl. I'm not asking you to fix it; I just thought that I would let you know, as I've not seen it mentioned in the Cacti forum. I'll probably come back to it later and take another stab at it. Just curious - does the 2600 refer to Atari?

I would post the issue of the perl.pl pinging on windows to the GitHub Issue Tracker if it's really a problem.

Any insight on what to do for a server that already has MySQL 5.7 installed without me deleting MySQL?
Most of what I say is targeted guessing...

Did that and got into actual cacti. All graphs showing "nan" for values on both local graphs and a test server I connected to. Have tried a few "solutions" found on this forum to no avail. Any suggestions that aren't read the setup manual again?

Sorry for poor questions before, I'm fairly new to IT in general, have been learning on the fly, and was not really presenting any decent information. Let me try to fix that now.

This is what my cacti log has been repeating all day today. The server I was testing cacti with has been removed from service now but I haven't yet removed it from the list of devices being polled.

Below is the rrdtool output for my local machines CPU usage with the graph debug enabled:

I have tried running through the graph debugging page in cacti's documentation but none of their tips seem to show any beneficial results, there is the possibility I overlooked something simple on install and am too inexperienced to detect the issue.

I appreciate the assistance,
Mason

This suggests that you do not have access to the SNMP service on the device you are polling. Check that SNMP is installed and that it's allowed through any firewall to the monitoring server.

Hi, I just installed cacti 1.2.3 and is having difficulty with MySQL part. I am receiving a message:

FATAL: Connection to Cacti database failed. Please ensure:
•the PHP MySQL module is installed and enabled.
•the database is running.
•the credentials in config.php are valid.

I checked on the post installation procedure and I cannot login to MySQL. I am being asked for a 3rd password? there is also a cacti-password file where I try to access MySQL:

C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.7\bin>mysql -u root -p cacti
Enter password: *****
ERROR 2003 (HY000): Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061)

C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.7\bin>mysql -u root -p ah2xiTu1vU
Enter password: **********
ERROR 2003 (HY000): Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061)

C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.7\bin>mysql -u cactiuser -p cacti
Enter password: *****
ERROR 2003 (HY000): Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061)

I also checked the config.php and this is what is written:

$database_type = 'mysql';
$database_default = 'cacti';
$database_hostname = 'localhost';
$database_username = "cactiuser";
$database_password = "3iXZADARIL";
$database_port = '3306';
$database_retries = 5;
$database_ssl = false;
$database_ssl_key = '';
$database_ssl_cert = '';
$database_ssl_ca = '';

this is what is written in the cacti installer log:

SNMP is installed and enabled on local and test server, with both being open on port 161 and allowed direct connection to each other by IP. Local is still showing only some graphs, and cannot connect to SNMP on the other, "SNMP::get(): No response from 'ip-address'". Poweredge 1950's for both servers and SNMP v2 selected in cacti. Any other thoughts?

Edit: snmp service and trap are both enabled on the firewall inbound and outbound on both servers.

Small update of the most likely issue I see. We have all the systems I'm testing Cacti on running through a Netgear GS116 v2 switch, which from what I've read doesn't have an MIB available and doesn't work with SNMP. Please lmk if I'm just poorly informed.
