Maximum traffic in/out values change depending on graph zoom

Post by cinergi2 »

Hello,

I've defined a standard Bits In/Out graph with Maximum using an RRA with Steps=1 and Rows=105120 and a polling interval of 5 minutes. This should allow me to keep 1 year's worth of unconsolidated data points. The problem I'm having is that the Maximum value displayed in the graph varies depending on the zoom level, as if some sort of consolidation is still taking place.

For example, with the graph view set to "Last Day", the maximum traffic peak is shown as 24.20 Mbps but if I select the "Last 2 Days" view, the same traffic peak only shows as 21.30 Mbps. The more I zoom out, the lower this peak seems to be. This shouldn't happen since with my selected RRA settings, there should not be any consolidation. Why is this happening?

Thanks,
cinergi

This is the difference between AVG of AVG. AVG of MAX, and MAX of MAX. I believe You should use GPRINT:MAX
