Hi there.
I've been trying to measure TCP connection times with Cacti and have now a working script that takes three parameters: host, port and string to send (for example SMTP transaction, HTTP transaction etc.).
Then I created a Data Input Method, Data Template, Graph Template and have it all working so that when I add this graph template to a host, I can for example specify port 25 and string "quit" for the host and it starts polling the host and graphing the time in milliseconds that it takes. This all works fine but ...
Now for the original question: If I want to measure more than one port on the same host Cacti won't allow me to select the same graph template again to input another port and string (for example port 110 and string "quit" or port 80 and "GET / HTTP/1.0...").
Do I have to make copies of the Data Input method (and/or Data Template/Graph Template) for each port and string combination that I use?
Reuse Graph template on a host
