CACTI poller issue

Post by novalex »

Hi to everyone,

I'm kind of new to Cacti and have been struggling with an issue for hours, all the install process was successful but the graphs are showing me
the cacti poller has not run yet
I went into cacti's log file and found this:

Code: Select all

 2019/02/19 12:55:10 - CMDPHP PHP ERROR WARNING Backtrace: (/host.php[131]:api_device_ping_device(), /lib/api_device.php[1023]:cacti_snmp_session(), /lib/snmp.php[67]:SNMP->__construct(), CactiErrorHandler())
2019/02/19 12:55:10 - ERROR PHP WARNING: SNMP::__construct(): php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo failed: Temporary failure in name resolution in file: /var/www/html/lib/snmp.php on line: 67
I have tried to solve this issue by myself by using spine instead of the default cmd.php poller but haven't found any solution yet and still do not know the reason why i get those two error messages.

Thanks for all the people who are willing to help and if you need some more informations i would be glad to answer.

cacti: 1.2.1
MariadB: 5.1
spine: 1.2.1
php: 7.0

Sounds like you have a DNS resolution problem and posted the same issue twice :)

Yes sorry, i know but could'nt figure out how to delete the old post, thanks for your answer but i have solved my issue by making a cronjob, so that the poller runs every 5min i don't know if it's the solution to my problem but now the log does not show me errors and network scans are running.

Thanks for all.

The two are unrelated, but having no cron job means that the poller would never run.
