Localhost only

Post by sanxago »

Hi friends,
I made a search about this topic, but I can't find it. I'm sorry if I didn't see.
I had installed cacti in Ubuntu over VirtualBox with Bridged adapter as part of the network. However, Cacti does not see the network, except itself as localhost and its IP (192.168.10.12) at the device. I had edited snmpd.con file, changing localhost ip (127.0.0.1) to 192.168.10.x
What's wrong on this matter?
What else should I change?

The real question is does Ubuntu see itself on that IP address? Use SNMPWALK to test that SNMP itself is working as expected. I suspect that your network configuration is not as you believe it should be.

I have had executed, this command "snmpwalk -mALL -v1 -cpublic [snmp_agent_Ip_address] system"
The answer from this, was "Cannot adopt OID in ..." different services, if not at all.
I have had readed a few of tips to install and configure cacti as standard configuration and should work.
-----
Later I'd installed snmp-mibs-downloader and run snmpwalk -c public -v1 [my IP] > snmpcheck.txt with results into attached file.

OK your SNMP doesn't appear to be configured correctly as you should be seeing far more information than that. Check your snmpd's configuration file to make sure it isn't locked down to specific IPs and/or modules (oids). This is normally done through Views.

Is it useful if you see my snmpd.conf file? It's attached as snmpd.txt
I'm a little confused...if you have some tips or guide to resolve it, I will be very grateful.

It's as I suggested above, unless the system is being queried from localhost (127.0.0.1) then the systemview applies which only has basic system information. You need to update your rocommunity strings.

I got to show all information. So, I think it's correctly configured.
Now, I'm trying to read MIB files with qtmib application, but I cannot find tutorials or how-to's. Do you know where can I get some tutorial?
