Total Bandwidth not represented in graph

Hello,

We noticed that the graph does not represent the 1gig connection.
The graph only shows a IN: 500mb, Out: 50mb and a 95th %:
(0mbit in+out).

Im not sure how this was set up as it was done before I started this job.

Any information is appreciated.

Hi,

As per my knowledge, Cacti graphs do not show total BW of the port. It shows only traffic_in and traffic_out of specific port. As well as you can edit the graph template to add Total traffic volume. If you are talking about Total traffic volume, please reply me I will help you to set up it. Please see attached graph with total in/out traffic volumes.

Showing the total Bandwidth is a related issue. However, the major issue is that the graph is not reflecting an accurate representation of traffic flowing in and out of that node.
We know the node is trafficking at least 500mb IN but the graph only shows 400mb IN.

That is an aspect of RRDTool consolidate. You will want to look up "Max of Max". RRDTool does consolidation at 2 different levels. One when it stores the data in the RRD, and the other is during the display of the graph data. Most of the default graphs are set to utilize the AVERAGE consolidation.
