Hello,
I just moved from Anothe Dist to CentOS 4, everythign is ok, but i cannot graph squid stats.
I have the latest cacti, 0.8.6c but still the host would say its 'down' and the graphs are empty.
I have recreated the graphs, deleted and recreated the host. Nothing.
Any help please..
cacti on CentOS4

If you are doing this as localhost, make sure that the SNMP community is blank. This of course is where I'm assuming that you are running scripts from localhost and localhost is not running any SNMP Daemon.

Is the device that is running you are attempting to get the squid stats from localhost or a remote server?
Is it using SNMP? Or a script that parses logs?
If you are using SNMP, then you need to confirm if SNMP is running and you can manually retrieve the values with snmpget or snmpwalk. If not, then you have an snmp issue.
If you are using scripts, and it's localhost, and you are not using snmp, then you may have to disable (leave the snmp community blank) on localhost.
Please explain in greater detail what you are trying to do, so we can better help you.

Ok, the port is the issue....
If that same host is running NET-SNMP snmpd, you can proxy the squids SNMP through it allowing you to query it on the port 161.
This is a known bug that cacti has with port assignments, I don't recall the details. Sorry.
Check out the forums, here is a post that covers setting up the snmpd proxy:
http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?t ... nmpd+proxy
http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?t ... c&start=15
Proxying it is probably you best bet, because I'm assuming you are already running snmpd on that host. This way you can have the squid templates and the interface templates attached to the same device in cacti.
