Unable to get Cacti going on RPi2

Hi all,

This is my first experience with Linux, so please bear with me. I've setup Cacti on my Raspberry Pi 2 using the instructions at https://community.spiceworks.com/how_to ... tall-cacti

I did a clean install of Raspian using Noobs, did all the updates and upgrades as detailed in the above link, then followed the instructions to a 'T'. The result: FATAL: Cannot connect to MySQL server on 'localhost'. Please make sure you have specified a valid MySQL database name in 'include/config.php'

When restarting Apache, I get the following error: Could not reliably determine the server’s fully qualified domain name, using 127.0.1.1 for ServerName

Are the Spiceworks instructions still valid? I know that some files in Raspbian have moved around a little, but the three text files referenced in those instructions were certainly there. I also looked at the instructions at http://n00blab.com/cacti-pi/ looked mostly the same, except that it used wget for the application itself, rather than apt-get. Since the Spiceworks article was newer and also had less steps, I used it.

Can someone help? Thanks and apologies for my lack of Linux skills.

I am doing the same on raspbian with raspberry pi 3, model B. I installed cacti using apt-get and was able to setup cacti .8.8.H, php 7 and thold 0.5. After this, I saw cacti page at http://127.0.0.1/cacti. Graphs were not displayed and thold plugin in cacti was not functioning. Somebody said that there could be a php error and he suggested upgrading cacti to 1.1.38. Now, I'm in the process of upgrading cacti to 1.1.38 or downgrading php to 5.5. Either of this could work if at all the board supports it.

The instructions seem fairly simple but I don't have a raspberry PI to test this on. The editing of the PHP and Apache configuration files was probably correct at the time of writing but may have been updated since then. I would check that you have:

• Apache server working with a basic webpage first
• PHP is installed and working at CLI and under Apache

Feel free to post back your results and we can go from there but as I said, with not having RPi it's a bit difficult to give definitive advice.
