Can the subnet range in automation be a specific list?

Post by shonaran »

How can I rediscover everything that Cacti is polling?

I looked at the automation package and it lets you discover networks with a specific IP range. In the "Subnet Range" field, can I simply enter a list of IP addresses? Ideally, I want it to rediscover all devices that are in the system periodically. This set does not fall into a specific range. Can I copy/paste the list of IPs that Cacti is currently polling in this field?

Is there a better way to ask Cacti rediscover everything that is currently in the system?

Why do you want to rediscover if it is already in?

The interfaces, speeds, IPs, descriptions etc. keep changing.

Those should be picked up by the device queries. I think what you are after is a clearing of the cache and re-population from the template suggested names.

How often are the queries run? I thought they are run once when you add the device.

They should also run on a re-index or cache clear.

When I added the devices, the re-index method was default "Uptime". I assume that if I set it to "Index Count", it will pick up new interfaces, updated speeds, device descriptions etc. Is this correct?

However, now I already added over 500 devices in the system. How do I change the reindex method for all of them? Also, this is not part of the template. So any new device that gets added in will not have this setting. Is there a way to force this choice for all new devices?
