Not able to get graphs for AIX server 6.1 from CACTI server.

Post by chandresh »

We have installed the net-snmp package in AIX 6.1 but still not able to see graphs from CACTI tool.

We have configured cacti with snmp version 2 and added AIX server to get graphs. But getting snmp Error while adding.

Also we are not sure, how to configure snmp in AIX server. Please help on this.

we are adding snmp file like of AIX server : -

pi5serv:/etc # cat snmpd.conf
logging file=/usr/tmp/snmpd.log enabled

logging size=0 level=0

You are only allowed AIX to server SNMP to itself. You need to add the cacti server's IP address as a valid client.

I did the same and restarted the snmp service but still not working. snmp version 1 if giving successful messages for AIX server in CATI but not with Snmp version 2.

Are you able to SNMPWALK from the Cacti Server to the AIX one at the command line?

Thanks for your update on my queries.

I understood your concerns but can you guide some steps to configure snmp for AIX 6.1 server to get graph from CACTI servers(hosted on SUSE server).

You will need to google for how to setup SNMP on AIX. Once you have that installed and configured, we can try and help you with the Cacti side of things but without that Cacti won't be able to query the server.
