For example:
c:\php\php.exe c:\Apache2\htdocs\cacti\poller.php
You have to choose your cacti folder and your php folder.

I've tried to run the poller from the command prompt, but the windows disappear before I can see anything. :(

but you must open first an ms-dos session (run->cmd) and then go to the php folder and run the poller!

Yah, that way you can see what is wrong. Just running it from the "Run" command will run it and close, error or not. And you will not be able to view the output, error or not.

Run it from a command prompt as suggested.

If you are trying to debug, you can also choose to run cmd.php or cactid from the command prompt as well. Just turn logging to debug first.
