Unable to find new plugin Cereus Reporting

Post by HaikazD »

Hello all,

Happy to be a part of this great community. I'm just getting my feet wet with Cacti but really enjoy and love this so far. I got all my gear pretty much set up and I'm ready to move onto installing plugins. Yesterday I installed (or I thought I did) CereusReporting plugin. I followed all directions in link below. Every step was just as listed for Centos7 64bit install. No errors or issues all was grand.

https://www.urban-software.com/wp-conte ... _6and7.pdf

Well until it asked me to log into Cacti and go to plugins. I logged in as Admin as asked and there is no CereusReporting plugin anywhere to be found. I'm stumped as to what happened to this install or what I actually did wrong? I'm not really a Linux guru to begin troubleshooting what exactly I did wrong either. If anyone can please assist me as to where to even begin troubleshooting this will be huge help.

Thank you,

Haikaz

Plugins for Cacti live under the <path_cacti>/plugins/<plugin_name> and I think you need to manually download the cacti plugin for Cereus to there. Currently, there is no automated plugin download/install available.

According to the Cacti Documentation website, there is a 1.x version of the plugin:
https://docs.cacti.net/userplugin:cereusreporting

I don't know if there's a more up to date version because I don't use it.

Hmm I think you may have found the issue.....looking back at the install docs it notes to install in /tmp dir but older instructions noted to use /var/www/html/cacti/plugins/

It would make sense why nothing is showing up in plugin section in Cacti ! Now here is my novice Centos question. Can I move the install to that directory? Or do I have to uninstall and reinstall ?

Thank you !

If we are talking the folder location that you copied the plugin to, you should be able to just use mv to move the folder/contents.

Just when you think you have it figured out lol

Ok it turns out plugin CereusReporting actually already does reside in /var/www/html/cacti/plugins/

Now why in the world does it not show up in actual UI plugin section? Of course I'm unable to email the developer people either their email is not working

If all those files are directly in the plugins folder, they should be in plugins/<pluginname> . the INFO file should say what that expected plugin name should be.

Correct all files are in

/var/www/html/cacti/plugins/CereusReporting

Info file is below and that email doesn't work to get any help.

[info]
name = CereusReporting
version = 3.01.25
longname = CereusReporting Plugin
author = Urban-Software.de
email = support@urban-software.de
homepage = https://www.urban-software.com/products ... for-cacti/
compat = 1.0.0
capabilities = online_view:1, online_mgmt:1, offline_view:0, offline_mgmt:0, remote_collect:0

Could it be one of the PHP files not running? I already restarted the entire server but still no plugin of such sort visible in my plugin section of Cacti. It's as if I never installed anything. Not sure why this is so difficult :-?

I know one of the guys from Urban Software frequents this forum from time to time and they just published a Cacti 1.x for Beginners book so I'd be surpised if you had no help from the email address.

Just out of curiousity, did you also download the license file and put it into the config directory ?

If you used the installer, then it should have complained about any missing moduls ( e.g. ioncube loader), so I assume that's installed ?

Other then that, for a Cenos 6/7 system it's basically just following the copy&paste install guide.

Btw, your Cacti install is sitting in /var/www/html/cacti, right ?

Hello guys sorry got tied up on the weekend had no time to troubleshoot this. I still want to figure this out as it's driving me crazy.

It's been a while since I installed Cacti on this server and can't recall what directory it sits in...?

I checked /var/www/html/cacti but only plugins directory is listed inside which Cereus is also part of (/var/www/html/cacti/plugins/CereusReporting)

Any specific install file I can search for to locate cacti install path? Perhaps the install wasn't done properly the first time may explain the problem I'm having.

Appreciate the support.

PS Cereus support email bounces back or else I'd hit them up with this.

So, how did you install this and is this a Centos/RHEL system ?

Also which support email did you use so I can check and fix any issue with that.
