Dear Cactisphere,
I have a huge Weathermap with at least 100 network nodes, each nodes has a "LABEL" wich is the name of the location.
I am wondering if someone knows about a function or a workaround, so I can be able to search, highlight or zoom on a specific node just by typing the name/Label?
The ideal case would be to integrate within the weathermap some "plain-text" and use the "web browser search function".
I found an old (2006) topic "viewtopic.php?f=16&t=17917" but I hope we've found some solutions by now.
Thanks for your help,
BR,
MM.
How to find a node within a weathermap

That would really be one for Howard Jones who develops Weathermap but I'm not recalling one myself though I'm not really an extensive user of it (yet - waiting for the 1.x compatible version)

Re: How to find a node within a weathermap
There's no text to search on a map. It's just an image.
In the future, it may well switch to SVG, which would be searchable.
I'm still not really clear on why you would want to do this rather than break the map into something readable. You can link between maps and have a master map (zoomed out) right now.

Weathermap 0.98a is out! & QuickTree 1.0. Superlinks is over there now (and built-in to Cacti 1.x).
Some Other Cacti tweaks, including strip-graphs, icons and snmp/netflow stuff.
(Let me know if you have UK DevOps or Network Ops opportunities, too!)

Re: How to find a node within a weathermap
Thanks for your replies.
@Howie, it would just be the easiest for my current map: Imagine you have 100 routers/nodes, and you trend the bandwidth within arrows between those nodes, each node is named by a "City". I would just want to type and search "London" for exemple so it could zoom on it.
I am glad to hear it could be a new feature in the future. For now, if you have any workaround/ or ways to link maps so it could be easily readable I'm in!
Thanks again.

You can link between maps right now.
In the 'main' map:
