Can I make a graph with the Unix-Processes of a host

Post by soissnarf »

Hello, sorry for my english but I'm french.
I want to use cacti but it's difficult for me to understand some things.
I want to know if I can make a graph (Unix-Processes for example) of a host (different of localhost of course !). I try this, but graphics seems to be the same :(
With ping latency, it's work very good...
Who can I configure this ? It is possible ?
Thank you very much

It depends whether you want to graph the number of processes on the machine running CACTI or a different machine.
On the same machine (UNIX/LINUX) you can use the Graph Template "Unix - Processes".
On a different machine you can use the Data Template "SNMP - Generic OID Template " to graph the OID (for HP-UX I use .1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.3.1.4.1.0).
If you don't get values please use snmpwalk on your CACTI machine to check that your UNIX server delivers the required information.

I will try that you told me.
Thank you very much ;-)

Cacti tell me that "SNMP not in use"...
But it is present...
Can I have to configure it before ? I don't know this protocol... I don't know what doing !!

When you monitor the processes on your CACTI server you don't need SNMP .
CACTI queries the number of processes using a perl-Script running on the local machine.
