upgrade 0.8.8f to 1.1.28 -> graphs generation very slow
Hi,
I have just migrated from cacti 0.8.8f to cacti 1.1.28: all work well but the generation of graph is very very low, I can tell without doubt that the time has increased by at least 300%.
Someone have suggestion about this problem?
Thank you.

The default graph time is every 5 minutes. If you are needing every minute, then you need to update the system to operate in a 1 minute cycle.

Re: upgrade 0.8.8f to 1.1.28 -> graphs generation very slow
Hi, maybe I did not explain well the problem.
I speek about the generation of graphs in tabs "graphs" of cacti web page, I don't need more data, I need only a "quickly" (as for cacti 0.8.x) generation of graphs.
And I want to understand if I make some mistake on upgrade from 0.8.8 to 1.1.28: the generation time is at least tripled, this is strange!
Thank you.

How many graphs have you got displayed by default? Are you using thumbnails by default or full graphs?
The amount of time to generate will increase with more graphs.
I'm not personally aware of the timings between 0.8.x and 1.x for graph generation on the viewing page.

Re: upgrade 0.8.8f to 1.1.28 -> graphs generation very slow
Hi, I display 10 graphs by default.
I use full graphs, I have tried now thumbnails option, but the result is pretty the same
I know that the number of graphs it's important.
I have made some test: 10 graphs (thumbnails options): total time 27 seconds: ~15 for the first six and other ~10 seconds for the other four.
Only 1 graphs: 7 seconds.
This from when I have updated from cacti 0.8.8X to 1.1.28
I have also update rrdtool when I have upgraded cacti and I can see in process list that when I wait for graphs rrdtool process is in execution.
There is some big change in graphs generations from 0.X to 1.X version?
Thanks

Re: upgrade 0.8.8f to 1.1.28 -> graphs generation very slow
Have you updated the version of the RRD tool within the settings? I know that it has a version selection in there. As for graph creation, seems strange that it takes so long as I have a page with 29 graphs and they display in around a second.
Have you got enough memory / cpu power allocated if this is a VM?

Re: upgrade 0.8.8f to 1.1.28 -> graphs generation very slow
Hi,
I have updated cacti from 0.8.8 to 1.1.28 (with the correct cacti procedure and internal DB upgrade) and contestually upgraded rrdtool to 1.7.0.
I need to update settings of rrd tool? You can explain me?
Isn't a VM, but have 4GB of ram and 4 core and don't have much load.
The strange is the big difference beteween cacti 0.8 and 1, no hardware change...
Thank you!

I'm not sure if 1.7 is supported by cacti, have you checked under the RRDTool version in the settings ?

Re: upgrade 0.8.8f to 1.1.28 -> graphs generation very slow
Hi, I have a similar issue after upgrading from 0.8.8f to 1.1.31. Before the upgrade, clicking a graph in the tree would load instantly. Now I wait 5-10 seconds for a page of 10 graphs. Sometimes nothing loads at all and other times I get a message saying the request could not be completed. The pages under the console tab for all the configuration are responding fairly well. Slower than before, but not nearly as noticeable as the graphs page. Anything I can do/try to speed this up?
