Anyone have some idea how I can get the phone number of my Cisco IP phone connected on the network ?
I have some information via CDP, but I'd like to be able to record the phone number of each one, when I do a discovery of my network.
anyone has some clue about it ?
Or script to parse the web page of it
thanks in advance,
Cisco IP Phone

Re: Cisco IP Phone
Without having access to PBX I don't see how could you possibly match the mac to an extension or ddi.
Depending on how they are set up I guess you could parse something from the web gui and this will depend on every vendor I guess.
Do you have access to the pbx?

Re: Cisco IP Phone
No I don't , but sometime from the CDP or LLDP (I can't see on my cisco device) and on the web page I think I have it, but I will have to manage the language I think.
So I'm looking around if I can find anything.

Re: Cisco IP Phone
Look up "Ansible". You could relatively easily, write yourself a script to be able to do this. I'm not sure what you would want to do from there, though. I'm not sure where or how that would be useful for cacti. But it is possible, to use Ansible and some tools with that, to connect to a switch and run show cdp neighbors and then pull the mac and phone number from cdp.
Re: Cisco IP Phone
It's not useful for cacti itself, but for me.
We are using a tool named NEDI to manage all device on our network, frankly I don't like it, so a made some improvement to cacti (3 plugins so far) to be able to use cacti as monitoring tools and inventory.
I wrote a plugin to discover device on the network via CDP, it will graph and monitor all link to between device, and record AccessPoint (and just ping it) and IP Phone (without monitoring).
Now I'm getting the serial number, the type, and I'm looking to be able to get the phone number associated with the phone, so it will be easy to find a phone location/connection via the phone number.
