Cant ping network switch from Cacti 0.8.8f

Hi,
I am and experienced Windows admin but not Linux I have built a Centos 7 VM and installed Cacti 0.8.8f
Everything seems to be fine. I can ping switches and servers from the underlying OS but cannot ping any network devices from Cacti.
I have limited success pinging servers but no joy with any of our Switches.
Please tell me its just a newbie thing and there is a simple solution

OK total Newbie error. Disabled SELINUX and all is well.
