Webseer Plugin - No event history

Post by BigAl101 »

Hi All

I've recently setup a Cacti 1.1.10 installation with spine and have added a few plugins such as monitor and thold which are all working fine.

I've added and enabled the webseer plugin as I have a number of webservices to check ( i also run a ping on them) to ensure the sites are still up.

However when i go into the "view history" for an enabled and working check it just says "No events in history" also i'm not able to select any users to notify when the device fails, this list is just empty.

I've attached screen shots below.

Also does anyone know if it's possible to graph the data from webseer, just a simple graph to represent that the web site / service is up or down.

Thanks in advance for any help.

History only currently populates when there is an event. A Data Query Graph or two sounds like a nice idea. You should log that on GitHub as an issue.

That is what it does. I'm using it.

Thanks for the replies.

I know it's monitoring correctly as i'm getting the expected results when the site is up (DNS resolution time, HTTP code returned, Status UP etc), however if i disconnect the cacti server from the network / block the URL on the router firewall (so the url is unreachable from my server) it reports that it's down but i dont get any events shown in the history.

I would have expected the history to show when it's down and when the site comes backup.

I'll log a ticket in github for graphs.

So after a bit more trial and error, if i run "/plugins/webseer/poller_webseer.php" from the command line whilst a site is in a down state it then updates the event history and also sends an email to the select user for notification.

However when this script is launched through cacti/spine it's not updating the event history nor does it send the email.

This points me to believe it's a permissions issue but i'm just not sure which permissions would need changing and on which files.

Any thoughts?
