Cacti 0.8.8h can't create rrd files

Hi,

My cacti can't create rrdfiles. I've read other topics so I've set the right permissions and I've tried running the command with 'www-data' user (using sudo) and it's working...
And my devices are up and running and cacti sees them as 'up'.

Why isn't working when I create graphs on the web interface?
It's a fresh install (1 day).

what distribution are you running and how did you install cacti? What are the cedentials (which username) does your web-server run under? Where is cacti installed, and where are the rra files (supposed to be) stored? Please share (copy/paste) the permissions of the last folder.

I'm running on Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS.
I'm using cacti 0.8.8h. The credentials for apache2 I don't really know but I know my cron is set to use www-data.

RRA should be in /usr/share/cacti/site/rra :

In Debian and Ubuntu, all permissions should be all right. What I suspect is that the cacti cache isn't rebuilt. I added that to the package some time ago, but maybe after 14.04.

So, go to the System utilities -> Rebuild poller cache

See if that helps.

By the way, please file bug about Debian or Ubuntu package in the Debian or Ubuntu bug tracker, where they are more likely to be spotted by the maintainer.

What do you mean by bug on ubuntu ???

RRA should be in /usr/share/cacti/site/rra :

Ehm, no, they shouldn't. I only recently added a symlink from there to the real location: /var/lib/cacti/rra/

I already did that too and it's not working...

The odd thing is that I checked the "structured RRA" box in the settings, so cacti should create a folder for each host.
The folder IS created ! But it doesn't create any RRA inside.... :/ !!!

I'm totally lost, I don't know where to look, even if I look at the LOGS at the DEVEL level I can't see anything....

I've reinstalled Cacti (aptitude purge) and it's still the same...
Even the initial rrd files (for localhost) aren't created...

I noticed something : when I chose cmd.php as poller instead of spine it's working...
I don't understand why spine can't create the rrdfiles ..

Please, run "reportbug cacti" on the computer where you experience this issue and report to the correct bug tracker.
