Manually remove syslog plugin

Post by kdsmith »

I'm running 1.1.6. Accidentally upgraded recently when I let Webmin do its thing. Now, I'm trying to get stuff fixed and used to new things.

I tried to get syslog to work. It complains that my settings plugin is missing. So, I worked to try and get that plugin running, then I found a post on here somewhere saying the settings plugin is now built in. So I apparently botched the install of the latest syslog plugin. I tried replacing it with the old plugin so I could uninstall it. That doesn't work. Uninstalling the newer one doesn't seem to work either.

I have a ridiculous amount of syslogs that have been stored in the Cacti DB for a very long time. I don't really need to keep them.

What is the best method of manually removing the syslog plugin and starting over again with it?

Thanks,
Kevin

Extreme move, but I deleted everything in the cacti database with "syslog" attached to it. That freed up a ton of space. My syslog_incoming table was huge.

Then, deleted the syslog directory under /usr/share/cacti/plugins/. That seemed to get rid of the plugin.

I then copied the latest syslog back under plugins and tried to install it, but now I get a popup error of "Error: Please rename your config.php.dist file in the syslog directory, and change setup your database before installing".

There must be a flag somewhere that says I'm not using the Cacti dB, because I was thinking the plugin install would create the database files. I renamed that file and it didn't matter either way. Still got the popup error.

Any one have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Kevin

Did you follow the directions and rename config.php.dist to config.php ?
