I've read most of the posts on DNS resolution for mactrack and am having an issue that I have so far been unable to figure out.
I don't have any errors in my cacti log (running 0.8.8b with mactract 2.9-1) and everything looks normal but I don't have any reverse DNS information listed in mactrack.
I am thinking it's a configuration issue as I am having this on multiple cacti servers.
What I have done so far...
- checked resolv.conf and verified my dns servers are correct
- checked error logs for errors
- ran mactrack_resolver.php manually for this site id and get the follow error..
CMDPHP: Poller[0] ERROR: SQL Assoc Failed!, Error:'1054', SQL:"SELECT last_rundate, COUNT(last_rundate) AS devices FROM mac_track_devices WHERE disabled = '' AND site_id=Chicago GROUP BY last_rundate ORDER BY last_rundate DESC;"
any ideas??
Not resolving ED DNS Hostname

Re: Not resolving ED DNS Hostname
Did you configure the DNS servers in Cacti Console --> Settings --> Device Tracking?
Re: Not resolving ED DNS Hostname
Yes, I have them set to my Primary and Secondary Domain controllers for AD (I have verified these are the correct DNS servers).
I have also tried checking the reverse DNS option on / off and it doesn't make a difference.
If I do an SNMP walk, I can grab the information from the switches and routers and the same information is available in the ARP table but I can't seem to get mactrack to work.
Here is what is displayed after initiating a manual site scan from mactrack:
