A workable how-to

Has anyone or would someone please write up a workable how to on the steps needed to be taken prior to installing cacti and to document the configuration necessary to get cacti to run as it should. I have been reading the posts here and it seems we definatly need one. Thanks in advance.

Sorry for asking such an obvious question, but I had to ask

I assume you are talking about how to install things like ucd-snmp, rrdtool, and php? I never considered writing such a thing, but I know this user has.

Tell me if you had something different in mind.
