cacti database on windows - MS SQL 2012

is it possible to use a remote (same domain, same network segment, just different server) SQL database for cacti, instead on the local mysql coming with the installer ?
i am planing to deploy ca cacti instance on a win2012 r2 server for a citrix farm.
