How do I move cacti graphs to a new win2003 server

Post by jmcculla »

I've been running cacti on a win2k test server for several months and need to move the historical graph data to the new server. I also need to export the graphs and be able to view them as requested. Thanks for any help.

Why not set up the core requirements (mysql, php, iis) and then just copy over your Cacti webroot to the new server? Don't forget to update the Cacti paths if needed.

I moved the rra files, mysql cacti database, and changed some rights and it worked well. How long do I have access to the graphs that are created?
Can I export or archive them, the powers that be want to have access to them for at least a 5 year cycle? Thanks again

The rrd files cycle through once a year. I suppose you could create a new RRA metric that would keep a longer averaging cycle, but it would also increate the rra filesize.

Well, either you copy the database, or you import a new one, that is your choice, but you will need a database.

I suggest, that you dump the database from the old server and import it into the new server.

Check out http://www.mysq.org for documentation on mysql.
