Wikipedia deleted Cacti article

Post by suqyg »

I just find out yesterday a Wikipedia administrator deleted Cacti (software) article*1. Ridiculous. I tried to bring some attention to it and ask what can one do with it*2. Now I tried to read thru the procedure to request undeletion and the admin's talk page and I have to say I don't have time for this, don't wanna fight the windmills, so I don't think I'll follow the advise I've got on Wikipedia:Help desk.
Will someone else try it?

Ugh, your right, trying to wade through the Wikipedia process for all this is completely stupid and overly complicated. Their "rules" are not enforced evenly and seemingly at random. He deleted the page because of "product promotion" (even though its not) yet there are promotional pages for just about everything else in existence on there.

The Cacti page isn't any more promotional than
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apache_HTTP_Server

He actually flagged it for Speedy Deletion as "Spam"

Its been restored. The page should probably be fleshed out and revised though.
