Can I display only graphs where bandwidth is high?

Post by airykat »

My cacti displays 300 different graphs, 1 for each port on each switch. When I want to see if something is using a lot of bandwidth, I have to manually scroll through the whole list of graphs, which eats precious time in an emergency (and is just irritating the rest of the time). Is there a way to filter on graphs where bandwidth is over a certain threshold? For example, on my network, I would often like to see only graphs where traffic exceeds 200 mbps. Is that doable?

Not really, but I would imagine a plugin could be written to do it (would be pretty IO intensive if the numbers aren't cached).

What most people do is build out a weathermap, which then shows them all their links on one page with a color coding of the link bandwidth usage. Then you can easily see the links with issues and mouse over and see the graphs.

One I made for a client a while back. There are other better examples in that same thread though.

Good grief, that is incredible! How do I get some maps like those built in my environment? If you have room in your client list, we're interested. Feel free to message me.
