Hi guys,
I just reinstalled my monitoring server, all fresh, with ubuntu server 14.4.
Have installed cacti, after install all looks good, I have added my devices etc...
now when I wanted to install the settings plugin it's not showing it in the plugins management section.
I have done this :
wget -P /usr/share/cacti/plugins http://docs.cacti.net/_media/plugin:set ... 0.71-1.tgz
tar zxvf /usr/share/cacti/plugins/plugin:settings-v0.71-1.tgz -C /usr/share/cacti/plugins
this are the contents of the dir :
/usr/share/cacti/plugins# ls
settings settings.tgz
/usr/share/cacti/plugins# ls settings
email-test.php include index.php LICENSE README setup.php
and the permissions :
/usr/share/cacti/plugins# ls -l
total 24
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 Sep 25 2011 settings
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 17759 Oct 6 2011 settings.tgz
I have tried downloading again etc... nothing helps.
info from page title :
Plugin Management (Cacti Version: 0.8.8b, Plugin Architecture Version: 3.1)
I hope somebody can help me out with this problem.
I have searched and found many posts but all of them have different problems with plugins. not same as this one.
thanks in advance.

Re: Plugins not showing in Plugins section
It could be any number of things. I assume you didn't install Cacti via source since you are using a version of Cacti that is over 3 years old. Which means you using a distributions package. Some distributions change where the plugin directory is. I don't keep up with their packages, so I couldn't tell you if they changed it or not for that one. You will also need to look at the permission inside the settings folder to ensure that the webserver can read the setup.php file. Also try disabling selinux temporarily to see if its permissions are causing issues.

Thanks for your reply.
problem is solved.
1. I have updated cacti to the last version. but that was not the problem.
2. problem was that I had the plugins in the plugins directory of cacti, not of the site, in the /usr/share/cacti/plugins, this was wrong, I had to copy it to /usr/share/cacti/site/plugins.
now the plugin is showing and working.
thanks anyway.
