thold plugin - threshold created does not save

Post by esathler »

Hi Folks,

I am trying to configure the thold plugin...

When I create a new threshold, it does not yield an error but when I go back to
the Thresholds page I see that it does not save the value that I put inside the
text box for the threshold value ... not only that but it also does not save the
threshold I created... it says on the top "Record updated" on green, but it does not
show on my Threshold list ... it is empty.

I also get an error when I try to modify a template to insert a high threshold value,
it says in red letters on the top of the page: Error: Save Failed

my apache error logs, not sure it is related:
PHP Notice: Undefined index: template in /usr/local/share/cacti/plugins/thold/thold.php on line 273, referer: https://a.b.c/cacti/plugins/thold/thold.php

This is on Cacti 0.8.8a, the settings plugin is installed and configured as well.

thanks!

I had the exact same problem just today, with newly created thresholds not really getting created. When I looked at the Cacti log I saw that it was a database issue. Apparently something didn't take right when I first installed the Thold plugin, or perhaps I had some legacy database tables from an old version of Thold. In any case, I solved the problem by doing the following:
  • Disable and uninstall the plugin in the web interface (don't actually delete the thold directory from the plugins directory)
  • In MySQL, open the "cacti" database and drop the thold, thold_data, and tholdset tables
  • In the web interface, install and enable the Thold plugin again, and re-grant yourself permission to the Thold stuff if you aren't just running as admin.
This of course wipes out any thold settings you had before, but if you are just getting started with it anyway, you don't have any such settings to lose.

Kevin

Hi there,

I've tried exactly what you said... I disabled and uninstalled the Thold plugin, but as soon as I do that, the tables disappear.. I don't even get a change to delete them..

Any advice? I know it's an old thread..

Any help would be great!

Thanks!

That's actually how it should work: it does delete the tables that were created by a plugin when you uninstall that plugin.
