RRD file not being created

Hi all,
I am completely new to Cacti, and RRDtool in general. I've been trying to create graphs with the default templates and its okay so far.
I am now trying to monitor Traffic with the Data Query - SNMP Interface Statistics.
My problem is that the RRD file is not being created, so no graph is showing.
After debugging, and seeing issue, I've manually added the rrd file into the /rra director.
I now see a graph, but data isn't being polled.

Well you need to check why it isnt created manually?

Do you have permissions set on /rra folder?

Check cacti.log with debug enabled and it should give you a good reason.

Hey Micke2k thanks for the reply,

I think the permissions on the folder are okay: d rwx rwx ---

as for the cacti.log, I'm not sure what I should be looking for. I've attached a picture of a segment of the log.

Yes but who is the owner of the /rra folder? Is it the same as the webserver?

Is there any files in /rra folder?

We are looking for error messages in the log

The owner of the /rra folder is different from the webserver, but I have already made sure that the permissions are properly set.

There are files in the rra folder, however anything SNMP related doesn't exist.
i.e. there are no rrd files (related to SNMP) that are created through cacti.

Also, I don't see any errors in cacti.log

Side note: the OID's for the SNMP statistics exist, so the data querying should be working.

Its okay now!
turns out it was an issue in snmpd.conf
had to remove the '#' from the line: #rocommunity public localhost
did this to have full access from the local host
