meaningful version numbers in the interface
If security patch levels are not going to be reflected in the release numbers (e.g. 0.8.8f apparently has a patch level that I need to go check in the source code somewhere to see if I'm up-to-date) then it would be nice if the patch level were also reported in the interface next to the release number.
Re: meaningful version numbers in the interface
There hasnt been patches released since 0.8.8b (http://www.cacti.net/downloads/patches/)
New releases are favored now instead of patches. The change log always should reflect the bugs/security fixes implemented in a release.

Re: meaningful version numbers in the interface
Ah apologies;must have been looking at some out-of-date documentation somewhere. I'm afraid I've forgotten where I was at that point, but if I stumble over it again I'll be sure to let whoever owns the page know.
I like the releases system much better. Thanks for the info.
