How to get Cacti to update SNMP device config info

Post by KevinK6 »

Hi,
I am new to Cacti and I must say I love it. I am currently using it on Cisco switches and routers. We have it setup and graphing but did not like the generic port names. We went back into the Cisco equipment and updated the descriptions in the switches, but it is not updating in Cacti. I deleted one device and re-added it and the descriptions were in the host_snmp_cache table with a field_name of ifAlias and I was able to go into Graph management and add |query_ifAlias| to the graph name to get this, but the other switches do not have this information getting updated.

So my question is how to get this to automatically updated when we make changes on the switches and routers? I have looked through the documentation and tried some searches here on the forums, but I am probably not using the right terms. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Kevin
