Cacti stopped working after change root password

Post by Genfry »

Hello

I have VM with an installed and working stack of cacti 0.8.8d.
it contains several devices and templates.
I changed the root password and now I'm not able to login anymore to cacti.
the VM have an account for cacti sw (cacti), one for httpd (apache), one for mysql server (mysql).
I tried to make an update to of the cacti sw but now the following error appears on the login page:
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /cacti/install/ on this server

I'm able to login into mysql database.

the httpd log report this:
[Mon Sep 14 15:44:51 2015] [crit] [client IP address] (13)Permission denied: /var/www/cacti/install/.htaccess pcfg_openfile: unable to check htaccess file, ensure it is readable

the file /var/www/cacti/install/.htaccess seems to be non existing there.

the /var/log/cacti/poller-error.log is:
-rw-rw-rw-. 1 cacti users 0 Mar 3 2015 /var/log/cacti/poller-error.log

I don't want to lost already configured devices.
How can fix the issues ?

thanks in advance
regards

hello

an update about the problem described.
I created a file .htaccess into the folder cacti/install
containing the following:
Order deny,allow
Deny from all
allow from <ip my virtual machine>

assigned
chmod 644 .htaccess
chown cacti:users .htaccess
as other files in the same folder

restarted httpd server and tried to login, no success.

any idea ?

thank you in advance

i think you did something wrong with your permissions on the system.

Have you checked the permissions on the directories?
